Ampyr Solar Europe and Rockwool have signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for renewable energy from a 96MW solar park in the Netherlands.
Under the deal, Ampyr will supply more than 50GWh of renewable electricity annually from its new Noordoostpolder solar facility (pictured) in Flevoland, starting in 2026.
The solar energy, along with guarantees of origin, will be delivered via the public grid to Rockwool’s operations, supporting its sustainability strategy and decarbonisation goals.
Chief executive of Ampyr Solar Europe Tarun Agrawal said: “This agreement with Rockwool demonstrates the power of renewable energy PPAs to enable industrial leaders to achieve substantial decarbonisation while securing long-term energy security and cost predictability.
“We are proud to support Rockwool on their path to sustainability.”
Technical director of Rockwool Jos Dumoulin said the PPA marked “yet another step” in the company’s continuous process of reducing its ecological footprint.
“At Rockwool, we believe in joint responsibility for a better future.
“By investing in electrification and entering into smart collaborations with sustainable partners such as Ampyr Solar Europe, we are going the extra mile.
“Together, we are working towards a world where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand, for the generations of tomorrow,” Dumoulin added.
