European Energy has successfully commissioned its first PV project in Australia, its 58MW Mokoan solar park (pictured).
Located in Victoria State, construction of the solar park began in the first half of 2024.
The park will from now on generate approximately 113GWh of electricity annually – enough to power more than 18,000 Australian households and abate more than 85,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Catriona McLeod, vice president and head of Australia at European Energy, said: “We are thrilled to have completed our first project in Australia just two years after establishing our office in the country.
“This is a tremendous achievement for our entire Australian team, and I am proud that we have demonstrated our ability to execute projects like this efficiently and effectively.”
Australia is undergoing a major energy transition, with the Australian government set on delivering an extra 33,000GWh of electricity from renewable sources from 2020 to 2030, marking a significant shift from its historical reliance on fossil fuels.
As part of its commitment to sustainable growth, European Energy signed an agreement with First Nations Bailai Gurang Gooreng Gooreng Taribelang Bunda People Development Corporationan in 2024 to facilitate the responsible development of renewable energy projects on their land.
