British Solar Renewables (BSR) has submitted a planning application to Maidstone Borough Council for a 15MW solar farm at Harp Farm in Boxley, Kent.
The developer said the project would generate enough clean electricity to power up to 6595 family homes a year and avoid 5841 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
BSR said the scheme would help Maidstone District Council meet its climate goals and support the UK’s domestic energy security.
Project manager Hayley Burke said: “We are pleased to have submitted our carefully considered proposals for the solar farm, which reflect our commitment to both renewable energy and environmental responsibility.”
She added: “Throughout the consultation period, we prioritised meaningful engagement with the local community, ensuring their feedback was fully taken into account.”
BSR said the project is designed to deliver a biodiversity net gain of over 95% for habitats and 40% for hedgerows.
The company is considering further ecological enhancements, including bird and bat boxes, wildflower and wild bird seed grasslands, and said it welcomes ideas for a local community benefit fund.
Burke said the project would be “sensitively managed” and leave land available for agricultural reuse at the end of its operational life.
A public consultation was held in February and BSR launched a dedicated website to share details.
