PPC Group is adding an 88MW solar park to its portfolio in Bulgaria.
The project is being constructed in central Bulgaria by Chint Green Energy, a subsidiary of Chint Group, which owns solar panel manufacturer Astronergy.
The solar park is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026 and will be added to PPC’s portfolio once operations begin.
Located in the village of Vedrare in the Karlovo region, the solar farm will have an annual power generation of 140GWh, meeting the energy needs of 23,500 households and preventing the emission of 70,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
For the construction of the solar park 18,500 bifacial panels from Astronergy, 264 string inverters, and 12 LV/MV power substations will be used.
The system supporting the photovoltaic panels consists of single-axis trackers, with an active panel orientation and integrated back-tracking algorithms to enhance the station’s productivity.
Two months ago, PPC Group started the construction of a solar park with a capacity of 165MWp, in the region of Stara Zagora in central Bulgaria, as well as a nearby 25MW / 55MWh energy storage system.
In addition, the group currently operates a wind farm in northern Bulgaria with a total installed capacity of 18MW.
PPC Group deputy chief executive of RES Konstantinos Mavros said: “PPC Group proceeds steadily in the expansion of its portfolio in south-eastern Europe, as outlined in its three-year strategic plan for 2025 to 2027.
“Following the initiation of construction of a 165MW solar park in the region of Stara Zagora, we strengthen our presence in Bulgaria with another important project contributing to the vision of the Group for a sustainable transition to green energy not only in Greece, but also throughout south-eastern Europe.”
