VSB Group has commissioned the 9MWp Soleil de Balsac solar plant in southern France, transforming a former clay and gravel extraction site into a clean energy asset.
Located in Druelle Balsac in the Aveyron department, the ground-mounted project features 16,740 solar modules and is expected to generate about 10,550MWh annually—enough to power around 5000 households.
Annual CO₂ savings from the project are estimated at over 2500 tonnes.
“Soleil de Balsac demonstrates how VSB contributes: we transform disused land into future hubs of the energy transition,” said VSB Group chief executive Dr Felix Grolman (pictured).
VSB France managing director Maël Lagarde said the project “provides a valuable contribution to the region’s energy supply”.
The facility was developed by VSB’s French subsidiary and adds to the group’s growing solar portfolio, which includes the 19.3MWp Löberitz project in Germany and a 300MWp solar-plus-storage scheme in Poland.
VSB is also planning a hybrid wind, solar and storage park in Puutionsaari, Finland.
