Zelestra has brought Peru’s largest solar facility online, with the 300MWdc San Martín plant now fully operational in the La Joya district of Arequipa.
The project, delivered in under 18 months by Zelestra’s in-house EPC team, will generate 830GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power more than 440,000 homes and avoid over 166,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
At peak construction, San Martín supported 900 jobs and was delivered on time and on budget.
Power from the plant is being sold to Kallpa Generación under a long-term power purchase agreement, helping the utility diversify its energy mix in Peru.
Leo Moreno, CEO of Zelestra, said: “The successful delivery of San Martín reinforces our commitment to a customer-first approach.
“By leveraging our global expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction, we can successfully co-build tailored solutions that bring projects to life on time and on budget.”
He added: “We are proud to see the most ambitious solar project in Peru now fully operational, and we look forward to a long-term partnership with Kallpa in delivering clean, reliable energy for years to come.”
Zelestra has more than 7GW of solar and battery storage capacity in its Latin American pipeline, with 1.7GW already contracted.
The company was recently named one of the world’s top 10 clean energy suppliers to corporate customers by BloombergNEF and ranks second in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
